Description
The Raqchi Archaeological Park is located in the community of Raqchi, in the district of San Pedro. Archaeological evidence indicates that this was a town with important buildings, such as the Temple of Wiraqocha (built in homage to the supreme god, creator of the universe, Apu Kon Titi Teqsi Wiracocha).
Within the complex are aqueducts, underground tombs, and pre-Inca culture enclosures. There are also terraces that served various purposes and the gigantic wall that protects the park (remains of what remained of the temple to the god Wiracocha).
In fact, according to studies, they were divided into five sectors: first, the Temple of Wiracocha, the largest Inca temple, the warehouses, the statue, the enclosures, and the water sources. Also, in Raqchi, up to 156 circular colcas were found, warehouses used to store grains such as corn, quinoa, potatoes, chuño, and dried alpaca meat.
